5 Reasons Why you should reply to social media messages only ones daily

I want to share the mindset of someone with a bit of blogging and social media experience to help you on your journey.

I check social media once a day - in the morning - to reply to engagements. I do not check again until the following day.

Before adopting and sticking to this strategy I created long periods of struggle, failure and misery for myself by trying to reply to everyone in seconds, minutes, or multiple times daily. For me, that was a huge mistake because fear drove my strategy and we all know how things work out when fear calls the shots.....right?

Here are the five reasons why I reply to messages on social media only once daily.

1: Develop Posture

I patiently built my blog and social media to drive everything to me. by sharing detailed content and building relationships. Since everything comes to me I do not chase anyone. It can wait 24 hours.

2: Remove Desperation from My Life

Desperate, panicked, frenzied minds NEED YOU TO REPLY IMMEDIATELY!!! The split second you reply fast you instantly waltz the desperate dance with them. Replying 24 hours after the initial request either send's 'em packing for the hills to desperately grab at someone else, gives 'em a moment to air grievances, before exiting stage left, or teaches individuals the power of patience. My peace of mind expanded quickly when I said "No" to replying to frenzied folks fast, courtesy of checking social only once daily.

3: Build a Passive Asset

My blog is a passive asset; it works for me around the clock. But if I busied myself with checking social media notifications twice, 5 times or 10 times daily I'd had no time to build a passive blogging asset. Most bloggers waste lifetimes trying to get 1 or 2 or 10 people to become clients and customers and playing reply ping pong, going back and forth 10 times daily. The intelligent play is to patiently build an authority blog that passively drives 5, 10, 20 customers and more to you around the clock. Be The Hunted, not The Hunter.

4: Experience Freedom

Entrepreneurs build something that works for them 24-7, 365 so these folks can circle the globe, relax and work when they want to work. How can you build a passive asset, circle the globe and work when you want to work if you spend hours upon hours replying, chatting, replying, waiting, replying and checking social media sites 10, 20 or 50 times every single day? If you spend 10 hours on social media then you robbed yourself of 10 hours that could have went towards building a blogging asset that works for you. Be free. Spend hours offline doing fun stuff. Relax. Curtail social time.

5: Develop Trust in the Process Not Attachment to People

Bloggers who check social media sites dozens of times daily and try to reply to everyone in seconds almost always make the common error of believing that people are the source of their traffic, blogging income and business. This untrue, fear-based attachment to channels - not the source - of business leads to all types of bizarre, non-posturing, freedom-sapping behavior. Meanwhile, wise bloggers develop a deep trust in the process of creating and connecting which drives quality traffic and business, being the source of blogging success.

Ultimately, engage in whatever strategy your intuition moves you towards, as far as engagement frequency on social media.

Think through my strategy and consider my experience to gauge if you need to check social media less and spend more time building a blog that works for you.
